(Sandy Point, VIC – Wednesday February 16, 2012): The VicRoads Surf with the Boys Tour Presented by Play it Safe by the Water, Metricon and Global Surf Industries has travelled to South Gippsland Secondary College to preach the Surf Safe Drive Safe message today.
Professional surfers Adam Robertson and Phil McDonald gathered with over 35 young boys and girls gathered to chat to about the importance of being safe in the water and on the roads before going for a surf.
A joint initiative between Surfing Victoria, VicRoads and Play it Safe by the Water, the program aims to develop male surfer’s water skills and knowledge of road safety.
“The kids were great. They were all pretty keen to have a chat and hear what we had to say”, noted Robertson.
“The program is a great opportunity for the kids to see what some of the dangers are on the road and in the water”
All participants received a heap of prizes on the day including a signed poster from both Adam and Phil.
The tour now moves to Inverloch on Thursday.
